On the 20 March 2019, The Australian Government announced a yearly migration intake cut of 30,000 places, bringing the total migration intake for Australia down to 160,000 PR places available each year.
In addition the Skilled Employers Sponsored Regional visa, or RSMS , will have places increased from 6,000 to 9,000, and state and territory sponsored visa places will increase from 8,500 to 14,000.
We believe the end result of this announcement is that it will be harder for Skilled Migrants to obtain Skilled Independent (189) and State Sponsored (190) visa's which is why it is imperative that you lodge your application with as many points as you can claim.
Partner Visa's might also see stricter controls put in place as the government intends to have more rigorous checks to ensure a genuine relationships exist between the Partner's/Spouses.
